Today was one of those good days to be in the SEO world. You print up the reports and look at the numbers and everything is up. Site traffic is up, conversions are up and things just seem a little better.
But why isn’t it always like this? I think it has a lot to do with patience and goal setting. Marketing your business online is not altogether different from the offline world in that you have to set goals and time frames to accomplish them. You have to look at the competition level and access the amount of effort needed to get traction for your message.
Building website presence in the real world
In spite of what some “get traffic quick” companies would you have believe it’s not all that easy to just put up a website and expect great things to happen. If you are a dynamic writer or a true “thought leader” in what you do than you can cut down the time frame. Because at the end of the day people who add value to the online world are generally rewarded with traffic and links back to their sites.
But a lot of businesses owners barely have time to see their families much less spend time working on their websites. And so they make look to hire someone to work on it for them. This process does work but you need to have the appropriate partner to work with and realistic expectations.

Getting your site in front of people who are looking for what you offer is not always easy – but at the end of the day I believe it is worth it. The big picture is that people use the internet much more today than we ever imagined – and that isn’t going to change anytime soon. In fact we can only imagine how it will impact us over the coming years.
So the bottom line is that no matter where you are starting online – never lose site of where you want to finish. Depending on the age of your site and the competition level you may have different time frames and goals – but not matter what they are it’s still sweet when you finally win.
